Best Technique to Learn Spanish

How do you choose the best Spanish learning Software? I think I have discovered the answer and will share it with the world. In my days I have tried many different Spanish language learning software applications. I have a weak spot for study software applications. My affection for these games is probably hard wired inside my brain. This love comes from early childhood.

It was during a computer class in high school that I realized how effective learning games are (first of its kind in my state). Since it was the first class of its kind the professor had to improvise quite a bit. We did not know what to make of these strange looking “TV sets” with boxes, we were still determining if they are “fun” or not. Fortunately he made it fun. He showed us a learning application which featured a fuzzy walking character and a long trail of letters. The goal of the game was to build a trail made of letters. It was kind of a tragic game, because you had to build it quickly or the creature would die by falling off the bridge. I hated to see the poor thing die, so I resolved to improve my typing skills. Of course the point of the game was to learn how to type faster and it worked wonders. After about a week I had doubled the typing speed and the character always got home safe and sound.

It is the “fun” factor in these games that makes them so effective. These types of games have to be so fun that you forget that you’re learning. High school days are long behind now, but I still remember the concept. I had to apply it when I got a call from my daughter’s teacher who said that she was lagging behind in her Spanish class. I did not condemn her or yell, I knew it was not her fault. I quickly went online and bought the best Spanish learning software for kids (at least that was the rating). Surprisingly the game also featured an animated creature which seamlessly taught you Spanish words . It made an instant hit with my child, she liked it more than television. She now has straight A’s in her Spanish class. She boiled with so much enthusiasm over the game that I tried it myself and I’m glad that I did. I learned 500 new Spanish words in under 3 weeks. I think that’s what makes the best Spanish learning Software. When it’s more like a game and less like learning software. Trust me, there is no better way.
